First Half
Reading started the game very brightly and AFC were on the back foot from the start, 4mins gone and Reading were 1-0 up, after some good work from Harriet she switched play to the right, Lisa beat one player with ease and played the ball down the middle to Katie W, she steadied herself and placed her shot bottom right hand corner great finish and superb start.
15mins in and it was 2-0, Georgia C run down the left crossed it in, the cross missed everyone except Chloe, she crossed the ball back into the crowed penalty box, Louise turned her defender inside out and buried her shot into the bottom left hand corner.
The next 25mins was very scrappy and the girls either not releasing the ball quicker enough or over hitting there passes and losing possession.
5mins before halftime Chloe scored Reading’s third goal, after a good run by Katie she played the ball through to Chloe who easily beat the left back and slipped the ball under the advancing keeper 3-0 at Halftime.
Second Half
Katy M came on at Halftime for Rachel with a slight shuffle in players positions it was all systems go.
Katy dropped into left back and Georgia C moved upfront alongside Katie W and Chloe.
AFC Wimbledon to their credit started the second half with a lot of spirit and gave our girls no time on the ball.
The second half followed a similar story to the first as Reading just couldn’t mount any serious attack looking good up to the edge of the AFC area and then falling flat.
20mins into the 2nd half Katie W put the game beyond doubt with a great finish, Littlefoot played Katie W through 1 on 1 and Katie buried her shot low into the bottom right hand corner 4-0.
Reading continued to huff and puff but failed to really create anything really dangerous, although the whole game was played in AFC half, a vintage game it wasn’t.
80mins on the clock and Katie W completed her hattrick after some great work from Louise in the middle of the park she played Katie in on goal she rounding the keeper and slotting home her 9th goal of the season.
The game finished 5-0 to Reading Girls
Summary
Taking nothing away from AFC Wimbledon but this was a game that Reading won in 2nd gear.
Although winning 5-0 the girls know it wasn’t a very good performance and they will need to improve 100% for next week’s game.
We are away to Cobham FC who were Chelsea Academy last season. This is a must win game if we are to maintain hopes of league glory.
Next week we are Away to Cobham FC.
Thanks
