Sunday October 04th Away to South Park Girls

South Park Girls v Reading Girls  0-8

We thought today we would try a new formation, a very attacking 3-2-3-2 just so that we could have a Plan B.

Team News:  3-2-3-2  (Gk) Sophie G, (RCB) Nicole R, (LCB) Harriett R, (SW) Bobby L, (DM) Bianca R, (DM) Charlie B, (AMR) Chloe M, (AML) Georgia C, (AMC) Katie W, (CF) Nicole S (CF) Georgia G.
SUBS: Louise C, Becky K, Lisa S

Players missing from today’s Line up were Katy M, Rachel K, Gurneet C, Charlotte R & Sophie L.

First Half

Reading started the half very slowly and South Park looked the better team, the girls looked a little out of sorts with the new formation and were struggling to mount any sort of offensive play. 20 mins in and against the run of play we took the lead, Charlie played ball up to Georgia G who played a great through ball into the penalty box for Georgia C to run on to and she placed her shot smartly into the bottom right hand corner 1-0. Although in front Reading changed back to there preferred formation 4-2-3-1.
Almost straight away we started to look the better and stronger team; we were getting the ball wide and causing South Park problems. Katie W suddenly looked alive and took the game by the scruff of the neck and started to look like a playmaker. Katie played the ball through to Nicole S who squared it Chloe M and she lobbed the keeper great goal 2-0. The third was quick to follow Nicole S making a solo run and a great finish from the edge of the box bottom left 3-0. Just before half time Chloe M grabbed her 2nd goal of the game with a controlled volley from a Nicole S corner superb finish, 4-0 at Half Time.

Second Half

I made the mistake at half time of telling my girls that there finishing had improved this proved fatal in the 2nd half. The game was as good as over 2 mins into the 2nd half; Nicole S scored her 2nd goal with a close range shot 5-0. 10 min into the 2nd half Georgia G scored a powerful effort from the edge of the penalty area with the keeper palming it into the net 6-0. 15 mins gone Louise C and Becky K entered the game coming on for Chloe M and Bobby L. Moments later Nicole S added her 3rd and 2nd hattrick of the season with another close range volley 7-0 and the game was becoming very one sided with South Park offering very little as an attacking force. Reading looked solid and composed and started to create chance after chance after chance without success, Louise C finally scored the 8th goal with 15 mins left in the game, Katie put Louise through one on one and Louise somehow rounded the keeper and lashed the ball into the open goal 8-0.
Reading missed a whole host of chances in the last 15 mins of the game missing 13 one on one chances. Credit to the girls they were creating the chances just couldn’t score another goal. Finally score 8-0 to Reading. Credit to South Park they kept going even though the 2nd half was played entirely in there half.

Summary

We won the game without ever getting out of 2nd gear, although it is nice to be able to play bad and still win, but it was a funny feeling to have we won 8-0 and yet I was disappointed. I really do wish I hadn’t said at half time how much our finishing had improved.

Next week we are at Home to Wimbledon Town.

Thanks
