Reading Girls Jets 3 - 1 Burghfield

Reading Girls Jets again made very hard work of this game, squandering no fewer than 15 chances in the first half. After seeing the ball go wide, over, cleared off the line and saved by the Burghfield Keeper, They finally got the breakthrough when Alice Cartwright scored directly from the corner to make it 1 - 0 to Reading on 25 Minutes. At first look, it seemed that the goal was Megan's after getting on the end of the corner but after a quick look at the DVD it was over the line anyway.
New girl Emma Davies teamed up with Sophie Gibbons at the back and along with Zara Harper and Tara Magee, they controlled the back line.
Sophie Farrell and Alice Cartwright controlled from the middle and sent in some superb balls from set plays but Reading Jets failed to get someone on the end for the telling touch to but the ball in.

The restart saw Reading get the second goal after only a minute when Megan got on the end of a through ball and rounded the keeper the slot home to make it 2 - 0.
Burghfield rallied briefly and nicked a goal back when Reading got caught out watching the game to make it 2 - 1 and give them a fighting chance.
Alice Cartwright sealed the points for Reading on 20 minutes with a superbly struck free kick from just outside the box to make it 3 -1.

After that some of the Reading girls seemed to switch off, making for a torrid last 15 with the ball not being kept and possession given away far too cheaply.
A great first half from Reading Jets and they should be kicking themselves for not going in at half time with 6 or 7 goals chalked up. Burghfield made a game of it in the second half and took their chance well.

Better luck in front of goal next week and eventually we will have our shooting boots on.
