Reading Girls lost Chloe Varney with knee ligament for possibly til Xmas a day before the game as Reading Girls Jets and Winnersh Rangers Diamonds, a year on, same teams, same venue and the same score line.

Reading Jets had to rely on Megan Herbert's goal after 15 minutes of the first half to clinch all three points in a lively game between two hard working teams. Reading Jets spent much of the game on the front foot, trying to break down at time a very defensive Winnersh side, who played with four across the back at times.

The Winnersh keeper was on top form with three of four stunning saves and had to be alert when she steered a free kick round the post that was goal bound. Hannah John, Sophie Gibbons and Tara Magee held firm at the back during the first half with help from Zara Harper when she came on. Reading had a few chances that ended up being just wide and had Vicky Burr in goal for Reading for keeping a clean sheet, who in all honesty had a few long range efforts to clear up. Jade Hearmon and Alice Cartwright kept the pressure up and with Anna Rumbol and Sarah Thompson knocking on the Winnersh door, probably should have converted a couple on chances in to goals to make it safe. Miranda Lane and April Charlton kept up the pressure on the Winnersh goal but the keeper pulled off more saves in the second half to keep Winnersh in the game.

Reading Jets had a few girls missing this week and wish Chloe Varney all the best for a speedy recovery with knee ligament damage, that will keep her out, possibly til Xmas.
