Match Report for  Sunday April 11th 2010  -   Reading V Hartley Wintney (Away)

Final Score: Reading 6 – Hartley Wintney 1

Apologies again for a minimal Match Report but my multi tasking skills are obviously lacking when it comes to watching the match, shouting (constructively) from the side lines, chatting to other parents and making relevant notes about the game!
Sunday was bright but with a chilly wind and it was Reading’s last League game of the Season.
Reading Girls had no substitutes for the match and a very poorly goal keeper, as Morgan had been ill in the night and could have done with sitting on the side lines.. But it then transpired that Hartley Wintney only had 7 players themselves....
Kick Off ran late but Reading were straight in and racing up to the Hartley Wintney goal and Clara scored after 58 seconds… Reading 1:0

Nearly all the play was centred around the Hartley Wintney half of the pitch, including our defence for most of the time. Ellie put in a good shot that was saved by the keeper but gave us a corner.
April kicked a good ball to Clara who passed to Ellie for another attempt on goal but was stopped by the keeper. There were lots of opportunities all centred around the goal but with the very long grass the ball was tending to stop rather than roll. Then, Clara scored again.. 8 minutes 35 seconds.. Reading 2:0

Helen, playing on left field,  had a good attempt on goal saved, followed by a great kick from Clara which went just wide, then Sophie kicked one of her classic, long range shots into goal… 12 minutes 58 seconds.. Reading 3:0

Then the ball came down towards the Reading end and Morgan kicked it out, Livvie collected and had a great run up to the goal and was just stopped by the goalie..Then Ellie put in a great left foot goal..
14 minutes 45 seconds…Reading 4:0

Hannah chases well and Clara had another long range shot saved then strikes again for a hat trick… 16 minutes 30 seconds..  Reading 5:0

The ball is kicked back down towards the Reading end and Morgan runs out to kick away. Hartley Wintney get a corner but Jae collects the ball and runs up the pitch, passes to Ellie but the keeper saves the attempt.
Sophie has another good try on goal but it runs just wide. The ball is kicked out and April has a good run up, with her attempt on goal saved. Then Livvie has a good overhead shot saved but the ball comes out and she scores.. 31 minutes 30 seconds… Reading 6:0

Jae has another good run up the pitch but her kick is saved, followed by Livvie trying the same, then Reading win 3 corners in a row but  they fail to convert and the Half Time Whistle blows..
Second Half starts with a skirmish around the Hartley Wintney goal that leads to nothing but then the Hartley Wintney first half goalie, now on pitch has a great run all the way down to the Reading end and scores..  Reading 6 :1

Only a couple of minutes later one of the Hartley Wintney players was injured during a tackle and could no longer play. This took Hartley Wintney to 6 players and their Manager suggested stopping the game at that point with the score as it stood. Reading 6  - Harley Wintney 1.

It was a bit of a shame for the last match not to play out…

The girls have had a great Season and should be proud of themselves and feel excited about a challenging 2010 / 2011….

A quick good luck to Morgan who is leaving Reading Girls to pursue other Sunday Morning Activities..
