READING GIRLS WHITES 7 v 3 FRIMLEY GREEN DOLPHINS

To save confusion I am now calling both Chloe’s by their surnames!

In their new tangerine shirts, Whites turned out for their first home game of the season in the late September sunshine.  Both teams started lively, an early corner for Whites was cleared straight up the other end for Ella to collect off the Frimley player.  Scase and Beth combined well and Beth tested the keeper but she saved well.  Frimley then had a chance go wide.  Frimley then took the lead with a great shot from just inside the half giving Ella no chance (0-1).  (Shanna off/Charlotte on).  Jade then had a double chance with her first effort being saved back to her, and her follow up hitting the post.  Scase then had a chance which wasn’t cleared and fell for Jade to knock in over the keeper and level things up (1-1).  Whites then had a chance to take the lead with Beth going forward passing to Scase, who passed in to Jade on her own in the box, but she shot just wide of the post. (Jade off/Smith on).  Lauren then had a chance from the edge of the box which went over the bar. (Lauren  off/Ciara on).  Frimley then went forward in numbers past the defence, however Ella was there to collect at the player’s feet.  From defence Ciara passed to Melissa, who passed on to Scase whose cross/shot was just too close to the keeper for her to collect with ease.  Frimley kept attacking and weren’t frightened to shoot from distance, however they were wide of goal.  Frimley swung in a corner which Ciara cleared through to Beth, she ran the length of the field and slotted the ball through to Smith who squeezed it past the keeper to take the lead (2-1). (Melissa off/Lauren on).  Scase then had another chance saved.  A long goal kick from the Frimley keeper flew over the top of our defence and left two players free on goal but Ella came out to save the danger.  (Scase/Ciara off/Jade Shanna on).  Beth passed the ball through to Smith alone in the box, she turned and shot but it was cleared off the post by the Frimley defender for a corner.  Beth worked hard and won the ball passing to Smith who passed back to her, Beth’s shot was then palmed away but only as far as Smith’s head, which nodded the ball in the net to score (3-1).  Whites then had a long throw up to Jade who was dispossessed but won the ball back but her finish went wide.

Second half

(Beth, Charlotte off/Ciara, Melissa on). Frimley had the early chance of the half forcing Ella to save well.  Jade took a corner for Whites which was defended away for another, this time Melissa took the corner, which swung in for Smith to score and complete her hat-trick (4-1). (Smith,Ciara off/Charlotte, Scase on). Another corner taken by Melissa for Whites swung in again and flicked off a defender for an own goal (5-1).  Frimley didn’t give up and kept surging forward, they forced another good save from Ella, but she couldn’t hold it securely and the Frimley player knocked the loose ball into the net (5-2). (Lauren off/Beth on).  Beth won the ball in defence and travelled down the pitch but was dispossessed in the box for a corner.  Frimley again broke past our defence, this time Ella pushed it wide but their player managed to get it back and shoot and score (5-3).  (Shanna off/Charlotte on). Melissa then had a chance for Whites which was saved well. (Ciara, Melissa off/Lauren, Smith on).  Jade and Beth brought the ball from defence up field with Jade’s effort being saved.  Frimley kept persevering with Charlotte and Ella blocking shots.  Lauren won the ball in defence and passed it up to Beth in midfield, she passed out to Smith to knocked it on to Scase who ran on into the box and put it past the keeper (6-3).  (Beth off/Shanna on). Whites worked forward again with Smith passing out wide to Jade, who shot and her effort hit Smith’s head and flew into the net at the far post (7-3).
