READING GIRLS WHITES 8 – 1 HASLEMERE TOWN

With games coming thick and fast we gave Chris the week off!!!  Wendy took charge of this game and with Shanna having deputised as goalkeeper, this week she tried her luck as striker!  Shanna started strongly dispossessing the Haslemere girls then passing to Beth, her shot was deflected for an early corner, which went into the side netting.  Shanna then went on a driving run forward leaving the Haslemere girls standing, she passed to Beth whose shot was cleared.  Haslemere went forward, but great defending by Milly forced them to shoot wide.  From Charlotte at the back, she passed wide to Beth, she took it all the way to the edge of the box, putting in a fine cross for Shanna to smash into the back of the net (1-0).  Haslemere put a long throw into the box but Ella was there to collect.  Beth passed through to Melissa, then on to Shanna, this time her shot went wide.  (Shanna off/Jade on).  A Whites corner fell to Milly she touched on to Beth whose shot was saved but the rebound fell back to her feet and she squeezed the ball into the bottom corner (2-0).  Haslemere did knock the ball forward but came up against Lauren and Charlotte at the back who cleared any danger.  Melissa kept pressurising the Haslemere player and won the ball, took it down the left but her shot in was saved.  (Lauren, Milly off/Ciara, Michaela on).  From a throw Jade passed up to Ciara who knocked it into Michaela’s path, she ran on into the box surrounded by defenders, the keeper came out but missed the ball and it needed a defender to clear the ball away for a corner.  Another chance came when Beth crossed the ball into Jade but her shot was saved.  Jade then volleyed the ball from the edge of the box forcing a great saved out of the Haslemere keeper.  Haslemere attacked and Ciara and Charlotte came across to clear the ball but it needed Ella to come out and save the danger.  (Michaela, Melissa, Charlotte off/Shanna, Lauren, Milly on)  A short goal kick by Ella fell straight to a Haslemere striker who shot but Ella came out and saved the ball away with her body.  Shanna worked hard dispossessing the defenders, at the edge of the box she found Lauren whose shot was heading wide but Jade was on the end of it to slot it home (3-0).

Second half

(Beth, Jade, Lauren off/Michaela, Melissa, Charlotte on).  Charlotte passed on to Melissa who shot on the turn forcing the keeper to palm it over for a corner.  Good work forward by Milly, who passed into the box to Michaela she passed out to Melissa on the left, she shot and it flew into the top corner (4-0).  Haslemere kept trying and came forward but Ella came out to force the shot wide.  Shanna drove forward rounding the Haslemere players, she passed on to Melissa who again hit the ball in the back of the net (5-0).  From a Whites’ throw Shanna worked into the box and shot forcing their keeper to kick save it away for a corner. (Shanna off/Lauren on).  Michaela had a chance which needed heading off the line and away from danger.  (Charlotte, Michaela off/Beth, Jade on).  Whites pressed forward and the ball fell to Lauren on the corner of the box, she produced a spectacular shot which flew in over the keeper (6-0).  The ball landed for Beth on the half way line she charged forward round the Haslemere players then slotted the ball into the bottom corner (7-0).  (Ciara off/Shanna on).  Haslemere had another chance just skimming the bar and over.  Lauren crossed the ball into the box, Jade missed it but it fell and Melissa and at the second attempt she managed to knock it over the line to complete her hat-trick (8-0).  (Milly, Melissa off/Charlotte, Michaela on).  A short goal kick by Ella fell to a Haslemere girl who took a shot from distance and it flew into the goal and over Ella (8-1).  Haslemere then had another chance with Ella coming out and beaten it needed Shanna to clear the danger.  Shanna won the ball in defence and ran down the length of the pitch before a defender dispossessed her for a corner.

A good win with the girls given the chance to move around and try out some new positions.
