HASLEMERE TOWN 0 – 8 READING GIRLS WHITES

Haslemere Town were our hosts this week on this sunny Sunday morning.  Whites settled with Beth driving forward in midfield passing to Melissa her effort going wide.  Jade put the ball in for Beth in the box, her shot was saved but fell to Melissa but Haslemere cleared the danger.  On the rare occasion that Haslemere went forward Milly and Shanna were there to clear the ball away.  From defence Shanna passed up to Beth whose shot was cleared for a corner.  Melissa then won the ball and passed to Beth she worked forward rounding several players on her way then shot past the keeper to take the lead (0-1).  (Shanna, Michaela off/Charlotte, Ciara on).  Building from defence Charlotte passed on to Beth, who passed wide to Jade, she crossed the ball in for Melissa but it was just too long and the keeper collected well.  Beth then worked into the box and shot across goal and Melissa was there at the far post to tap it home (0-2).  Charlotte took a throw in to Beth, who slotted it through to Jade, on her own in the box, but her shot was kicked away by the keeper for a corner.  Beth again passed on to Jade in the box, this time she hit the post and the keeper saved.  Haslemere won a couple of corners which were easily dealt with by Ciara at the back, clearing them away.  From defence Beth sent Jade through, she shot but it needed Melissa there again to tap it into the goal (0-3).  A throw in by Beth was cleared back to her, she shot but the Haslemere defenders blocked the ball and their keeper eventually collected.  Haslemere won a free kick, central, just outside the box, it was cleared by Melissa on to Beth, she ran forward and passed on to Jade, this time her shot hit the back of the net (0-4).  (Jade, Milly off/Shanna, Michaela on).  Whites took a long throw into the box, Melissa shot but it hit the post, there was a goalmouth scramble but Melissa won possession again and had a clear shot at goal and completed her hat-trick (0-5).  Whites then had chances by Melissa, Michaela and Shanna before the whistle blew for the break.

Second half

Melissa passed wide to Beth, then passed on to Shanna, playing in midfield, but her shot went wide.  A Haslemere weak goal kick fell straight to Beth who then rounded the defence to within a yard of the goal and banged it into the net (0-6).  Charlotte then worked forward to the half way line and took a shot but the keeper caught it well.  (Beth, Charlotte off/Milly, Jade on).  Haslemere had a chance going forward but Ciara tracked back well and cleared the ball away for a corner. The corner was cleared away by Jade but put back in, the Haslemere player hit the post and her follow up was confidently collected by Ella.  (Melissa, Michaela off/Beth, Charlotte on).  Jade and Milly both had chances saved by the keeper.  Another weak goal kick by Haslemere this time fell to Milly to kick it straight back into the net (0-7).  (Shanna off/Melissa on).  Milly passed into Jade in the box, her shot skimming the post and going out for a goal kick.  (Ciara off/Michaela on).  Melissa then went on a run down the left into the box forcing a great save from the Haslemere keeper.  A long throw in by Charlotte went over the top into the box to Beth who shot and secured her hat-trick (0-8).  Whites dominated this game and had plenty of chances to get the goals into double figures but great defending, good goalkeeping and the posts prevented this today!
