FRIMLEY DOLPINS 2 – 7 READING GIRLS WHITES

(Sub: Ciara, Michaela)

Due to a waterlogged pitch at Frimley, we played our away fixture at home in muddy Burghfield.

After last week’s mishap, Whites looked up for this game with Beth and Milly having early chances blocked by Frimley.  Frimley had a good chance to open the scoring with Ella beaten on the ground but the shot strayed wide.  Whites took a quick throw in to Jade, who passed to Milly, then on to Beth in space, she shot and beat their keeper (0-1).  Jade then turned her defender and passed on to Milly, then Melissa, her shot going straight to the keeper.  A short goal kick by Frimley, fell for Beth who took it down and drove into the box and shot straight past the keeper (0-2).  Milly went on a great run down the right wing, passing her marker, she kept running and crossed an excellent ball into the box but neither Melissa nor Jade could get to it, it then fell to Beth but this time she shot wide.  (Jade, Shanna off/Ciara, Michaela on).  Beth launched a throw in into the box for Milly but she couldn’t reach it and the keeper collected.  Beth won the ball from a Frimley throw and took the ball forward, she threaded it through to Michaela but their keeper got there first.  Frimley then attacked and shot, Ella scrambled to it but couldn’t hold the ball and Frimley kept pressurising but then Charlotte came across and forced their player’s shot to hit the post and go out.  Milly then had a chance at the other end shooting just wide.  Beth picked the ball up in midfield and passed it forward to Melissa out on the left, her chance flew high into the net to make it three (0-3).  Charlotte then went on a charging run down the right all the way to the by line, she crossed in to Melissa on her own in front of goal, she shot but the ball swerved back out wide then out of play.  (Charlotte, Melissa off/ Jade, Shanna on).  Frimley attacked and shot from distance, Ella couldn’t hold the ball, she scrambled after it but it rolled over the line into the goal (1-3).  Beth then almost immediately drove forward, going all the way into the box, shot and got her hat-trick (1-4).  Frimley then went forward but Ciara stood up well and forced their shot wide. (Shanna off/Charlotte on).

Half time:  Frimley Dolphins 1 – 4 Reading Girls Whites

Second half

Beth took a long throw in into the box, where Milly won it and shot, her shot was saved for a corner.  The corner flew in hit the post then their keeper caught it.  Frimley had a throw in which didn’t reach the intended target of the keeper and Beth won the ball, she controlled it but their keeper managed to get back in position and save her effort.  Frimley then attacked with three girls going forward, but Charlotte managed to get back and force their strike wide.  Beth then passed the ball forward to Jade, she was dispossessed but won the ball back off her marker, she shot but their keeper kicked it clear and away.  (Michaela off/Melissa on).  Frimley charged forward knocking down Ciara in the process, with only Ella to beat, Ella came out, they shot and the ball went in off the post (2-4).  Beth drove forward, keeping possession under pressure, she passed to Jade on the left side of the box, she shot and scored (2-5).  Charlotte threw in to Beth, she ran on into the box but her shot was well blocked by the keeper.  Whites won the ball in midfield, Melissa and Jade had a little one, two and then Jade ran on past the Frimley player and took a great shot hitting the back of the net (2-6).  (Ciara off/Michaela on).  Charlotte drove forward into the box forcing a great save from the keeper but it fell back at Beth’s feet and she lifted it over the keeper to score (2-7).  Frimley then forced Ella to come out and touch the ball wide to clear it from danger.  (Beth off/Shanna on).  Chances followed for Whites to increase their lead but good keeping denied Milly, Michaela and Jade.  Frimley broke forward again and it took Charlotte to race back and tackle, the ball skimming the post and out for a corner.  Charlotte was now catching Ella on being the muddiest girl on the pitch today!

A good win today with some great passing play – let’s take it forward to Headley next week.
