READING GIRLS WHITES 7 – 0 ALDERSHOT B&G ANGELS

Whites speedily got into rhythm on this horrible, drizzly afternoon in Burghfield.  Beth passed on to Melissa who was tackled for a throw.  The throw flew into the box over players’ heads but fell to Lauren whose chance went wide.  The ball was crossed into the box, Jade couldn’t connect with the ball and the defenders tried hard to clear it but failed and Melissa took charge and shot the ball into the back of the net to open the scoring (1-0).  Then a throw in taken by Lauren, directed at Beth who controlled the ball and took it into the ball shot and made it two (2-0).  Jade won the ball in the middle of the field and passed to Melissa in space but her shot was saved. (Lauren, Jade off/Scase, Abbie on). Whites enjoyed periods of good play, Charlotte won the ball, passing to Scase, who knocked it up for Abbie and Beth but the defenders covered and put it away for a corner. (Shanna off/Ciara on).  Aldershot then had their first chance of the game skipping past Ciara, but Charlotte got back to block for a corner.  The corner was again put out for another by Charlotte, this time Aldershot shot wide.  Scase went on a run down the right, crossing into Beth in the box, her shot was kicked away by the keeper for a corner.  The corner bobbled about in the box and then cleared from danger.  Aldershot rarely posed a danger as Charlotte didn’t let them past her, standing strong in defence.  However, Charlotte and Ciara were clearing the ball away when it came flying back towards goal, the ball rolled across the goal with Ella scrambling on the ground behind it, but Ella managed to just clutch the ball before it went over the line to save any embarrassment!  (Abbie off, Michaela on).  Beth picked up the ball in midfield and again ran on into the box and launched it past the keeper (3-0).  (Beth, Melissa off/Lauren, Jade on).  Michaela stood strong and won the ball in midfield and slotted it forward to Scase who slipped into the box and shot (4-0).

Second half

 (Charlotte off/Shanna on).  Jade worked well down the right, (in her new found role as winger!) and put in a great cross but there was no-one there to convert it.  Aldershot had a chance to test Ella but it was an easy save for her. (Scase, Ciara off/Melissa, Beth on).  Aldershot had another chance, this time Ella had to palm it away for a corner.  Then up the other end Beth worked forward crossing the ball square to Abbie in the centre of the area, she took a shot and scored (5-0).  Aldershot failed to clear a corner and Beth and Melissa combined well then passed out to Lauren, whose effort was saved. (Jade off, Charlotte on).  Charlotte was playing wide right now and picked up the ball and went on a run down the wing, cutting in and crossing to Melissa who forced a great save out of their keeper, the follow-up by Abbie hitting the post. (Abbie off/Michaela on).  Whites had more chances from Beth and Melissa denied by some good keeping from Aldershot.  Beth took a corner which swung in and Charlotte back headed towards goal but their keeper was there to catch it.  Whites worked forward again Lauren passing on to Beth who drove forward into the area and shot, the ball going in off the post and completing her hat-trick (6-0).  (Beth, Shanna, Lauren off/Scase, Ciara, Jade on).  Jade tackled and won the ball in her own half, then passed out wide to Scase who ran on into the box but was dispossessed and the ball cleared.  A long throw to Melissa was crossed to Scase whose shot was blocked and the follow up by Jade saved.  (Michaela off/Lauren on).  Lauren won the ball and went forward passing to Jade who ran towards the box but was unfairly pushed to the ground – Scase took the free kick on the right, it flew in and hit an Aldershot player for an own goal (7-0). Melissa passed well to Scase to knocked it on to Jade in the centre now, but her shot went wide.
