HEADLEY YOUTH ALL STARS 1 v 4 READING GIRLS WHITES

The game started very end-to-end with the ball’s bounce causing the girls difficulty controlling it on the very hard, uneven surface.  There was lots of play in the middle of the field with the ball being knocked out of play a lot by the Headley players.  This, of course, suited us with Beth at hand to launch the throws into the box.  She did this and found Scase’s feet but her shot hit the keeper and fell back to Melissa who was tackled to win the corner.  The corner was cleared up field and booted away.  Headley had a couple of chances but Charlotte and Shanna shadowed their players and cleared the ball from danger.  Another long throw in from Beth found Melissa again, this time heading over the bar.  A throw in, this time by Shanna up to Scase, she controlled the ball well and managed to cross it to Jade in front of goal, her scuffed shot going just wide.  (Melissa, Jade off/Lauren, Smith on).  Headley attacked and managed to get past Shanna, their player shot producing an outstanding save from Ella pushing the ball away for the corner. This corner was cleared to Beth, passing on to Scase who ran on down the wing, she crossed but the keeper caught the ball well.  Beth won the ball from a Headley goal kick; she then skipped round a couple of Headley players but she then dragged her shot wide.  Beth won another ball from a Headley goal kick, this time she passed up to Smith who nodded the ball forward towards their keeper but Scase was there to bundle it over the line and in (0-1).  (Scase, Smith off/Jade, Melissa on).  A Headley corner was then cleared away by Shanna to Melissa who ran on down the left, past a player but her cross/shot went wide of goal.  Beth was first to another Headley goal kick, this time she took it herself running on into the box and shooting past the keeper (0-2).

Second half

 Headley won an early free kick which was blasted into the box but cleared away up field.  (Jade, Melissa off/Scase, Smith on).  Beth won the ball in midfield and carried it on into the area, this time her shot went over the bar.  Beth launched a long throw in into the box, where Scase was there to touch it past the keeper and score (0-3).  Headley then attacked but Whites cleared again up to Beth, she ran on and shot forcing a one handed save out of their keeper.  Scase took a throw in to Beth who dribbled into the box and shot past the keeper to make it four (0-4).  (Lauren, Smith off/Jade Melissa on). (Beth off/Lauren on).  Headley didn’t give up and put a good effort wide, then another cleared by Shanna and the follow up going wide.  (Lauren off/Beth on).  Beth passed to Melissa who shot, the keeper didn’t hold and the ball went out for a corner which was cleared away.  Melissa had another chance which went straight to the keeper.  Their keeper cleared up field, Shanna tried to clear, and Ella came out but the Headley player managed to keep the ball and get a shot on but it went wide.  Scase took the ball into the box and passed to Beth who shot, the keeper didn’t hold the ball and Jade was there to pounce but the keeper recovered well and collected the ball off her feet.  (Jade off/Smith on).  Headley then pushed forward and this time they managed to get the ball through and score (1-4).  (Beth off/Lauren on). Headley were now playing with two up front and our threesome of Shanna, Charlotte and Lauren did a great job in denying them any more chances.  Lauren won the ball in midfield, passed to Melissa who knocked it on to Smith but the ball was too long and ran off.  (Scase off/Jade on).
