READING GIRLS WHITES 5 - 2 WEY VALLEY
(Subs: Michaela)
With gale force winds and driving rain the match got underway. Beth stamped her presence on the game having a couple of chances at goal saved. From a corner Lauren had a chance go over the bar. From a Wey attack Charlotte cleared up field. Melissa and Jade played a one two and then passed on to Beth, she knocked it through for Jade but it was too close to the keeper and she collected with confidence. Wey then had a corner which bobbled around in the box, eventually Ella’s body blocked the shot and it was cleared away. (Jade off/Michaela on). Beth then went on one of her driving runs forward past defenders but her shot was saved well. (Beth off/Jade on). Melissa then saw her effort go just wide. (Lauren on/Beth on). (Beth off injured/Lauren on). Whites kept attacking but their chances just wouldn’t go in the net. (Michaela off/Beth on). Jade had a chance which rolled across the goal face and then Beth hit the post. It was a frustrating half for Whites with the only highlight being the referee slipping over (sorry Paul!).

Second half
(Melissa off/Michaela on). Jade crossed the ball well in for Michaela but the keeper collected. Beth then ran forward round the defence but her shot went wide. Jade put the ball forward from midfield to Beth, she slotted it through to Lauren in the box who smashed it past the keeper to break the deadlock (1-0). Straight away Wey counter attacked forcing Ella to come out and save at the edge of the box. Jade then volleyed the ball with her left foot from the edge of the box but it was saved well by the keeper. Then Wey had a chance from distance forcing Ella to dive but she couldn’t reach it and the scores were level. (1-1). But immediately Whites went forward with Beth whose shot came back to Jade who gave it back to Beth who shot and this time it went in the net (2-1). However, straight from kick off Wey went forward and shot, Ella producing a great fingertip save. They swung the corner in and it flew straight into the net and once again the scores were level (2-2). (Michaela off/Melissa on). Wey then had another chance Ella forcing the player to shoot wide. Whites then won a free kick just inside the half. Melissa struck this and it flew straight into the back of the net to take the lead (3-2). Whites keen not to concede again went forward and Beth forced a double save out of Wey’s keeper. (Jade off/Michaela on). Melissa then swung a corner in for Beth to tap home (4-2). (Melissa off/Jade on). From a Wey Valley corner Beth cleared the ball and then ran the length of the pitch and slotted home to seal the victory (5-2).
